The Lakers needed a last-second shot to beat the Phoenix Suns in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals. Ron Artest knocked in the game-winner as time expired to give the Lakers a 103-101 win.

Artest made only two shots in the game. His putback at the buzzer was the difference in an otherwise dreadful game for Artest.

The Lakers were leading 101-98 when Jason Richardson hit a 3-pointer with 3.5 seconds left to tie the game. On the ensuing possession, Kobe Bryant missed his shot, but Artest grabbed the rebound and made an off-balance shot to win the game.

Bryant scored 30 points, had 11 rebounds and nine assists.

The Lakers lead the series three games to two. Game 6 is Saturday in Phoenix.

The Dodgers and Cubs matched zeroes for seven innings. The Cubs finally broke the scoreless streak with a run in the eighth inning and beat the Dodger 1-0.
