Internet Safety Night For Children
The Child and Family Center is hosting Internet Safety for Children Night to raise awareness of online dangers and crimes, and provide resources and solutions for keeping families safe online Thursday night.
"With increased news of Internet predators and other online crimes such as cyber-bullying, sexual solicitation and other internet related issues, it is vitally important that parents, their children and community members understand the dangers associated with some online behaviors," said Alison Sheets, Marketing Director for Child Safety Software, Dolphin Secure.
The Keynote Speaker for the event is Jason Feffer, co-founder and former VP of Operations for MySpace and CEO of Sodahead, where he worked with law enforcement to help find teen runaways, solve murders, and deal with sexual predators.
Other speakers and panelists include Aria Summer Wallace, teen celebrity and actress who appeared in iCarly, and Jamia Nash, who has appeared in Young and the Restless and the Academy Award nominated film August Rush.
Other panelists include Alison Sheets, Marketing Director and Account Executive of Dolphin Secure and Matt Warner, Youth Ministry Coordinator at Northpark Community Church.
The panel discussion will be moderated by Devon Ferreira, CEO of Socialnotions Inc., a social media marketing company that uses strategic marketing and cutting-edge social marketing for brands and filmmakers. Following the presentation, the panel will field questions from the audience.
There will be a free drawing of a one year subscription to Dolphin Secure. Internet Safety Night is open to the community and free to attend. It is targeted for parents and teens ages 13 and up.
