Poll Workers Needed For Upcoming Primary Vote

Ballot_BoxVoting gives citizens a chance to weigh in on local and national affairs and primaries for the November election will be held Tuesday, June 8.

According to Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk Dean Logan, Santa Clarita doesn’t have enough poll workers for the June 8 primary, which could lead to fewer polling places.

Logan called on registered voters to support the democratic process by signing up to serve as poll workers in the upcoming primaries. About 1,350 poll workers are still needed throughout the county, with 50 needed for Santa Clarita.

“The contributions that poll workers make not only show their dedication to community service, but are the key ingredient to the strength and success of our democratic process,” said Logan.

Poll workers must be available to serve between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. and are compensated $80 for working primary election day, plus $25 for attending a 1-1/2 hour training session.

Training sessions are conducted throughout Los Angeles County in the days prior to the election. A schedule of classes, poll worker training videos, and training materials can be found on the County Registrar’s website www.lavote.net.
