khts_sportsValencia's Trey Williams set a school record hitting three home runs against West Ranch in a 15-5 win. Williams drove in six runs and hit home runs in the second, third and sixth innings.

His homer in the second inning was a two-run shot to give his team a 5-2 lead. He hit a three-run homer in the third inning to put Valencia on top, 9-2. He finished his home run barrage with a solo shot in the sixth inning.

For good measure, Valencia teammate Quincy Quintero was 3-for-3 with a home run and drove in three runs.

The Canyon baseball team won its first Foothill League game of the season, 2-0, over Hart. It was Canyon's first league win in nearly two years.

Canyon starter Icezak Flemming pitched a gem. He tossed a one-hitter and struck out eight.

Hart's Kevin Bailey got his team's only hit, a single in the second inning.

The Golden Valley baseball bounced back to beat Saugus, 6-5. Riley Sherwood and Billy Fredrick hit back-to-back home runs in the seventh inning to give Golden Valley a come-from-behind win. It was Golden Valley's first win over Saugus and its fifth win in Foothill League play.

James Threw was 2-for-3 and scored three runs for Saugus.

In high school golf, West Ranch won the Foothill League championship, but Valencia has the MVP of the Foothill League.
Valencia's Jonathan Chang won the two-day Newhall Land Cup golf tournament at the TPC in Valencia, shooting an ever-par 72 on the second day.

West Ranch's C.J. Espino shot 4-over 76 to lead his team to the Foothill League championship. Espino finished in second place in the tournament, five shots behind Chang.

West Ranch, Saugus and Valencia qualified for the team portion of the CIF Southern Section golf postseason.

The Master's College baseball team beat Biola, 7-3, scoring five runs in the third inning. Joe Zeller hit a two-run homer in the third inning. He finished 2-for-5 with a double and scored a run.

Ben Ives was 2-for-4 and drove in three runs.

The Dodgers are officially in a tailspin. They lost to the Mets, 7-3, and leave New York with a four-game losing streak. The Mets were responsible for three of those losses in completing the sweep. The Dodgers have lost six of their last seven.

The Pittsbugh Pirates are next on the Dodgers road trip. It will be Clayton Kershaw on the mound for the Dodgers against Brian Burress for the Pirates. Burress has a 9.31 ERA. Maybe the Dodgers can find a way to score some runs on him.
