Glover died Wednesday evening after his motorcycle collided with a car on McBean Parkway near Granary Square. He was transported to a local area hospital immediately following the collision. Late Wednesday evening, he succumbed to the injuries he sustained as a result of the collision.
Glover, a four year veteran of the department, was assigned to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station in May of 2008, proudly serving the residents of Santa Clarita for nearly two years working a patrol assignment in field operations. He graduated on January 19, 2007 with Academy Class 354 and is pictured below with Sheriff Lee Baca.
Sgt. Darren Harris issued a statement from the station late Wednesday night, "All the staff at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station have heavy hearts tonight as we have lost a great friend, partner, and a fellow community protector in Deputy Cameron Glover. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. He was survived by his wife, mother, father, and brother. We will continue to support them and lean on each other during this difficult time."
At 6:25 p.m. deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station and paramedics from the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to reports of a traffic collision on northbound McBean Parkway near Granary Square, Valencia.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that Deputy Glover was riding a motorcycle northbound on McBean Parkway near another motorist who was travelling in the same direction. At some point a collision occurred between Deputy Glover and the motorist. Deputy Glover was apparently unable to maintain control of the motorcycle as it struck the center median. He was treated at the scene by Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel and was rushed to a local hospital where he later died as a result of injuries sustained during the collision.
The driver of the other vehicle was not injured during the collision.
A fund has been set up for his family; donations to the Memorial Fund for Deputy Cameron Glover may be made at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's station on Magic Mountain Parkway or at any branch of the Bank of Santa Clarita (27441 Tourney Road, Suite 100; 21021 Soledad Canyon Road or 19045 Golden Valley Road). In addition, donations are being collected at two community events this weekend; at Tributefest in Central Park on Saturday and at the Pet Expo at College of the Canyons Saturday and Sunday.
