Canyon Country Man Dies In Agua Dulce Rollover Crash
A Canyon Country man was killed Sunday night when he was ejected from a car that went over an embankment on the northbound 14 freeway.
According to CHP Officer John Lutz, Brian Flores, 27, was a passenger in a car driven by Robert Alaniz, 28, of San Fernando. Alaniz was driving his 1999 Ford Explorer on the freeway just south of Agua Dulce Canyon Road at an unknown speed when he lost control of the vehicle and hit the guardrail. The car went through the guardrail and 300 feet down the dirt embankment, rolling several times.
Flores, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries. He was declared dead at the scene.
Alaniz and another passenger, Anthony Holguin, 19, of Van Nuys, were taken to a local hospital for treatment of moderate and minor injuries.
The incident occurred shortly after 11 p.m. Alcohol is not suspected in the crash; the exact cause is still being investigated.
Caltrans crews closed part of the freeway for the majority of the day to repair the guard rail.
