April 16: Dodgers Hold On To Win 10-8 Over The Giants

The Dodgers held on to an early lead, followed by a top of the 9th inning scare to beat their rivals, The San Francisco Giants 10-8.

On the 63rd Anniversary of 'Jackie Robinson Day', the day Mr. Robinson broke the color barrier in Major League Baseball, all MLB players wore his retired number, 42. The Dodgers did Jackie proud by getting off to an early lead with a Matt Kemp 2 run homer in the bottom of the 1st. That was followed by an Andre Eithier solo homer. There was no score by the Giants in the top of the 2nd inning. Then, in the bottom half of the second, Andre Eithier hit his first career Grand Slam Home Run, putting the Dodgers way out front, 7-0. The Giants finally got on the score board in the top of the 5th, when Mark DeRosa got the first hit, and scored their first RBI, going into the bottom of the fifth. The Dodgers then put two  more runs on the board, and the Giants followed by scoring one more run. After a bit more back and forth, the score remained Dodgers 10 and the Giants 3 until the top half of the 9th inning. That's when the Dodgers, and their fans, started to sweat. The Giants came out swinging and put 5 runs on the board before the Dodgers were able to get the third out...game over. Final score, Dodgers 10 and the Giants 8.
