Hart Percussion Ensemble To Perform April 25
Hart High's Percussion Ensemble, with special guest artist Naoko Takada, will perform Sunday, April 25, at 7:30 p.m. at Hart Auditorium in Newhall. The auditorium is located at 24825 N. Newhall Ave. Admission is free.
The Hart percussion program is comprised of students from the top ranking indoor drum line, jazz band, beginning percussion class, concert band and the nationally recognized wind ensemble. The concert will present a rich and varied repertoire with musical works by contemporary composer Ney Rosauro and influential Mexican composer Carlos Chavez.
"We're thrilled that marimbist Naoko Takada will be our special guest," said Anthony Bailey, band director at Hart. "If you've never seen her perform, you're in for a treat," he said, adding that Takada is renowned for her wide range of repertoire, from Bach to Piazzolla, appearing across the world as a soloist with several symphonies as well as at music festivals.

The Hart Percussion Ensemble is part of Hart's award-winning marching band program. In 2009, Hart Regiment was named state champion in its division by the Southern California School Band & Orchestra Assn. (SCSBOA) for the seventh consecutive year -- an accomplishment that remains unmatched by any other group.
