The Lakers had a chance to wrap up the best record in the Western Conference and blew it. Big time. The Lakers lost to the visiting San Antonio Spurs, 100-81. Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol had a decent game for the Lakers. Gasol scored a season-high 32 points and Bryant added 22 points, but the rest of the team combined for 27 points.

Manu Ginobili scored 32 points to lead the Spurs which secured a playoff spot for the 13th straight year.

And more bad news: Even though Cleveland lost to the Boston Celtics, the Cavaliers secured home-court advantage throughout the playoffs because the Lakers lost to the Spurs.

A few hours later at Staples Center, the Clippers continued their spiral of defeat, losing to the New York Knicks, 113-107. Baron Davis had 23 points and 11 assists, but the Clippers lost for the fifth time in a row.

In hockey, the Kings backed their way into the playoffs. The Kings clinched their first playoff berth since 2002 when the Chicago Blackhawks lost to the Calgary Flames on Sunday. Those same Chicago Blackhawks will most likely be the Kings first-round opponents in the NHL playoffs.
