Valencia Baseball Team Scores Early And Often Against Hart

khts_sports1The Valencia baseball team remains undefeated in Foothill League play with an impressive 8-2 win over Hart.
Valencia scored five runs in the first inning.

Quincy Quintero provided the punch with a two-run home run in the first inning.

Valencia added two more runs in the second inning to build a 7-0 lead.

Shane Zeile hit a solo home run in the fourth inning for Valencia.

The West Ranch baseball team and Chris Caldwell jumped all over Golden Valley in a 15-3 win. Caldwell hit two home runs and reached base four times. He hit a solo homer in the first inning and a two-run home run in the third inning.

The Saugus baseball team beat Canyon, 9-2. James Threw and Michael Soucy hit home runs for Saugus.

In high school volleyball, the Valencia boys won their Foothill League opener against Saugus in four games. Josh Duarte had a game-high 20 kills for Valencia. Matt Coleman had 19 kills for Saugus.

The Hart boys swept Golden Valley in three games. Taylor Gregory had nine kills to lead Hart.

The West Ranch boys beat Canyon in four games. Canyon's Preston Richardson and Curtis Van Grinsven each had 16 kills.

In high school golf, the West Ranch boys won convincingly by 38 strokes in a Foothill League match at Robinson Ranch's Mountain Course. West Ranch shot 374 as a team. Saugus was second at 412, followed by Valencia at 413.

West Ranch's JJ Holen and Valencia's Jonathan Chang each shot 1-under 71s for the low rounds of the match.

In high school tennis, the Golden Valley boys won their first Foothill League match in school history, 12-6, over Hart. Golden Valley's singles players Dennis Shim and Myles Moore swept their sets against Hart.

The Valencia boys beat Saugus, 17-1, and stayed undefeated at 3-0 in league matches.

The Lakers are not having a very productive road trip. They lost to the Atlanta Hawks, 109-92 and dropped their second game in a row.
Kobe Bryant scored 28 points, but only eight in the second half.

The Hawks got 48 points off the bench against the Lakers. Maurice Evans led the reserves with 18 points. Jamal Crawford added 14 points and Jeff Teague had 10 points off the bench.

No surprise that the Clippers lost again. They went down, 114-92, against the Toronto Raptors, losing for the third time in a row and for the fifth time in their past six games.

Chris Kaman had 22 points and 13 rebounds for the Clippers.

Chris Bosh had a monster game for the Raptors with 34 points and 11 rebounds. In typical Clipper fashion, they let Sonny Weems torch them for 17 points on a perfect 8-for-8 from the field.

In hockey, the Kings are home against the Vancouver Canucks. It looks like goaltender Jonathan Bernier has earned another start. He shut out the Nashville Predators, 2-0, on Tuesday night. He is expected to be between the pipes against the Canucks tonight. Pregame starts at 7 on AM 1220, KHTS.
