Sheriff's To Conduct DUI Checkpoint Tonight
The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's station will be conducting a driving under the influence/driver's license checkpoint tonight from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. Saturday morning at an undisclosed location.
Each time a DUI checkpoint is conducted, the Santa Clarita Sheriff's station informs the local media.
While that may seem to undermine their efforts on the day of the checkpoint, it actually helps.
Deputies hope that if motorists know of their presence, then they will avoid drinking and driving in the first place. This will keep the streets safe for everyone else.
The goal of the checkpoint is to educate the community on the hazards of drunk driving while enforcing the DUI laws of the state.
The checkpoint is an ongoing attempt to safely remove drunk and unlicensed drivers from our streets.
The location of the checkpoint will be based on the DUI activity in that area.
The checkpoint is funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
