Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival Holds Auditions

The Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival will be holding auditions for their summer production of "Tempest."

Director Mark McQuown will be overseeing the production, which is expected to run the second week in July through the end of the month.

"There are some very exciting things in store for this summer." said David Stears, Executive Director of the Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival.

Actors interested in trying out are asked to prepare at least one monologue or be prepared to read.

Auditions will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on March 26 and 27 at the Canyon Theater Guild.

The Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival is a new company dedicated to bringing Shakespeare in the Park to the community, and providing educational programs for local residents and students.

The Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival grew out of the Shakespeare in the Park, which celebrated its 20th anniversary last year.

Shakespeare in the Park founder David Stears founded the Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival to focus on bringing a full-fledged summer festival to the SCV.

Shakespeare in the Park was started by the Santa Clarita Repertory Theatre but recently has been a collaboration between the Canyon Theatre Guild and the REP East Playhouse.
