LA City Council Race Comes To Santa Clarita
As the race for the Los Angeles City Council 12th district seat heats up, one candidate held a fundraiser here in Santa Clarita.
Mitch Englander, the current chief of staff to incumbent Councilman Greig Smith, hosted a night of drinks and Hors d'oeuvres at Spirit Properties on Centre Pointe Parkway.
The 12th district seat plays a crucial role to the Santa Clarita Valley because of it's close proximity to our boarders.
The 12th district represents Granada Hills, Northridge, Porter Ranch, Chatsworth, North Hills, Lake Balboa, West Hills, Winnetka, Encino, Canoga Park and Reseda.
Issues, such as the extension of the I-5 truck lanes and the recent fight against the proposed Las Lomas development, affect a majority of our residents.
City Councilman Smith, with the help of Englander, championed the campaign to stop the Las Lomas development in 2007.
Additionally, the economic future for Los Angels can potentially touch many Santa Clarita residents as the city is a major source of jobs.
Although Santa Clarita residents can not vote for the district seat, Englander visited to raise awareness about issues that affect all of Los Angeles County.
