Small Businesses Get Boost From Redevelopment Agency
The City of Santa Clarita, through it's Redevelopment Agency, has awarded 20 small businesses with grants to make enhancements to their business.
The Newhall Redevelopment Small Business Grant program awarded each business $5,000 as part of the city's 21 Point Business Plan for Progress.
"The City of Santa Clarita created the 21 Point Business Plan for Progress to boost the local economy and support local businesses," said Mayor Laurene Weste. "The Newhall Redevelopment Small Business Grant program is a great way to assist our local businesses and support their individual initiatives and needs."
The grants were awarded to business with no more than 25 full-time employees and in good standing with the city.
Improvements such as painting, lights, advertising, website development and new signs top the list of many of the businesses.
In addition to the granting of funds, the businesses chosen were given assistance from the College of the Canyons Small Business Development Center.
The businesses will be subjected to a post-grant assessment after six months to evaluate how beneficial the program has been.
