Supervisors Will Ask Governor To Declare State Of Emergency
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors is preparing to ask Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to declare a state of emergency throughout Los Angeles County.
A declaration of this kind serves to free up assistance to property owners and others affected by the storm.
The emergency order will:
- Waive regulations which may hinder response and recovery efforts;
- Make recovery assistance available under the California Disaster Assistance Act;
- Expedite access to federal resources and disaster relief programs, including the United States Army Corps of Engineers.
