Youth Grove Honors Fallen Children
The City of Santa Clarita's Blue Ribbon Task Force is currently accepting names to be placed in the City's Youth Grove located in Central Park.
The Youth Grove is dedicated to Santa Clarita youth 24 years and younger who lost their lives in traffic-related incidents.
The memorial site, a grassroots effort created by the City and its Blue Ribbon Task Force, provides a safe, centralized location for community members to remember loved ones.
"Since 1980, more than 100 Santa Clarita youth have lost their lives on the road and the City's Youth Grove is designed to address this tragic issue," said Mayor Laurene Weste. "The site serves as a poignant memorial for those lost, as well as a graphic educational tool used to remind local youth of the consequences of reckless driving."
Those wishing to submit names to be added to the Youth Grove must complete a release form, available by clicking here, or by phone at (661) 250-3708. Completed forms should be mailed to the City of Santa Clarita, Community Services Division, 20880 Centre Pointe Parkway, Santa Clarita, CA 91350.
The deadline for submission is Monday, February 15.
The Blue Ribbon Task Force was formed in 2000 to educate parents and the community about alcohol, drug and tobacco use among Santa Clarita teens.
