The Master's College Men's Basketball Team Undefeated In Conference
The Master's College men's basketball team ran its Golden State Athletic Conference record to 3-0 with a 72-55 win over Vanguard University. Raphael Harris scored 24 points and had 13 rebounds for The Master's College, winners of five straight games.
The Master's College women's team had their four-game winning streak snapped by Vanguard, 97-77. Bridgette Reyes and Diana Neves each scored 22 points for The Master's College in the loss to Vanguard, the fourth-ranked team in the NAIA.
The Saugus girls basketball team lost to Chaminade, 62-48, despite a pair of double-doubles from Kim Smithers and Megan Dawe. Smithers scored 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for Saugus in the loss. Dawe had 13 points and 10 rebounds.
The USC basketball team is full of surprises these days. Riding an eight-game winning streak, including a pair of wins over the weekend against Arizona and Arizona State, USC imposed sanctions on its own basketball team in the wake of an internal investigation that found NCAA rule violations related to former player O.J. Mayo.
The self-imposed sanctions include no postseason play in the 2009-2010 season, including the Pac-10 tournament, and the loss of one scholarship.
In the NBA, the Lakers used the Dallas Mavericks to score their biggest win of the season, 131-96. Kobe Bryant only scored 15 points in a laugher. Jordan Farmar led the Lakers in scoring with 24 points. Seven Lakers scored in double figures.
In hockey, the Kings are in San Jose to play the Sharks, the first place team in the Western Conference. The Kings are coming off a 2-1 win over the Washington Capitals on Saturday. The Sharks beat the Edmonton Oilers, 4-1, on Saturday. Pregame starts at 7 tonight on AM 1220, KHTS.
