Saugus Girls Soccer Team Shuts Out Glendora

sportslocalThe Saugus girls soccer team, the reigning CIF Southern Section Division II champions, shut out Glendora, 3-0, yesterday. Jamie Molacek scored twice and Brittanie Sakajian added another goal for Saugus. Kelly Parker earned the shutout in goal.

The Canyon girls blanked Ventura, 4-0. Malaya Carbrera scored two goals and Devon Goff had three assists for Canyon.

 

Saugus and Canyon begin play in the Buena tournament today.

The Santa Clarita Christian girls soccer team got five goals from Kayla Gale in a 12-1 win over Hillcrest Christian. Amanda Doty and Joanna Masopust each had two goals and two assists in the win.

The Santa Clarita Christian boys had a little closer game against Hillcrest Christian. The Santa Clarita Christian boys won, 3-2, erasing a two-goal deficit and scoring three unanswered goals. Daniel Stratton put away the game-winner in the second half.

The Hart boys soccer team got a goal from Saul Avila in a 2-1 win over Alemany. Hart got its first goal when the ball deflected off an Alemany defender and into his own net. Avila scored the eventual game winner in the 67th minute.

In high school basketball, the Saugus boys easily handled Lincoln, 55-35, in the La Canada Holiday Classic. Brad Buchignani scored 15 points and had seven rebounds for Saugus.

In college basketball, The Master's College women's basketball team crushed winless La Sierra, 81-34. Four players from The Master's College scored in double figures. Brittany Henderson and Jenna Reed each scored 18 points. Lena Rivera and Morgan Schwegler each had 11.

The College of the Canyons men's team beat Cerritos College 81-64. Brannon Bradley scored 22 points for COC.
