Cloak And Dagger Holidays
For the last two years Cedarcreek Elementary school has been helping families in need, but doing all the work under the radar.
This year the school has expanded their giving to include a complete turkey dinner, in addition to presents for families.
What makes the giving even more special is that the chosen families are not informed until big day.
That big day came Friday afternoon for 17 families who have kids at Cedarcreek.
They were given a meal of turkey, potatoes, gravy, yams, corn, rice and dessert on top of gifts.
"The feeling is hard to explain," says Valeria Navarro, a PTA member who helps with the donations. "It feels so good to be able to give back and to be able to teach the kids about the gift of giving."
The kids play a crucial role in this process with each classroom responsible for raising one item for the giveaway.
Anonymity is key when it comes to this holiday giveaway, and the kids who may need help don't even know that the work they are doing could help benefit them.
Families are picked based on teacher nominations and the whole school works together to make the event happen.
"It's the most wonderful thing I've ever done in my life," said Navarro.
