Pardee Homes Supports Local Families During The Holidays

dvc_check09

Pardee Homes has continued its holiday season support of two north Los Angeles County charitable organizations: Carousel Ranch; an equestrian therapy program for children with disabilities and the Domestic Violence Center of the Santa Clarita Valley.

For the third consecutive year, Pardee Homes' sponsorship of Carousel Ranch's Santa Day event on Saturday, December 19, will mean a fun filled day of manmade snow, treats, gifts and a special visit from Santa for more than 100 special-needs children who benefit from personalized equestrian therapy at the Agua Dulce facility.

"Neighborhoods and cities are built with homes, parks, streets and, perhaps most importantly, through offering support to organizations that help those most in need," said Jim Bizzelle, vice president of community development for Pardee Homes' Los Angeles/Ventura division. "Even in a tough economy, Pardee Homes recognizes it must continue assisting organizations that provide such an important service in the regions where we build homes."

"Given the economy's impact on our corporate sponsors and base of support, we are especially pleased that Pardee Homes continues to give during the holidays," said Denise Tomey, Carousel Ranch Executive Director. "Our annual Santa Day event is the one time each year when our special children and their families can enjoy the holidays in the most festive of settings. Without Pardee Homes, there wouldn't be a snow party in Agua Dulce. "

Carousel Ranch provides therapeutic riding for the disabled. It combines instruction in traditional horsemanship skills with concepts of physical therapy to improve the strength, balance, and self-esteem for physically and mentally disabled children and adults.

Pardee Homes also will make a holiday donation to the Domestic Violence Center of the Santa Clarita Valley to help provide food and general services to families served by the center. The Domestic Violence Center has faced significant financial issues this year because of state budget cuts. Some funding has been restored, but reductions have forced the Center to move its main office and reduce staff.

"Every contribution and sponsorship is needed to maintain levels of service," said Mary Ree, the center's president. "The Domestic Violence Center Board of Directors, staff and the people we serve are very appreciative of Pardee Homes' support."

The Domestic Violence Center assists families within the Santa Clarita Valley who need an emergency shelter, and also provides women's support groups, crisis intervention, children's therapy, and teen and youth services. The Center also operates a 24-hour emergency hotline as well as individual counseling for families in need.

Pardee Homes' Holiday of Giving is in its seventh year, and is celebrated throughout the company's regional operations.

"Each regional office has embraced a local charity and designed a program of giving and support to help make the holidays extra special for those in need," said Mike McGee, president and chief executive officer. "Using the funds that would have gone toward a holiday luncheon, our employees work together to continue our company's long tradition of philanthropic outreach."
