McLaren's Shortbread, A Family Tradition
This delicious Scottish Shortbread has been a tradition in our family for at least five generations; both sides of our family have their roots in Scotland, through the McLaren and Forbes Clans. This family recipe was passed down from Tim's great-great Gran who lived in Glasgow, Scotland. Each batch is hand-made, baked in clay trays and hand packaged.
Tim & Andrea Slominski began baking for friends and family at the holidays and it proved so popular that last year they decided to offer McLaren's for purchase as gifts for the Christmas and New Years Holidays.
Andrea is a part time teacher at College of the Canyons in the theatre Department and Tim is a Mortgage Broker. The recent budget cuts at the college and the economic collapse in the financial markets gave Tim & Andrea the incentive they needed to expand their shortbread business into a year round gourmet food business. McLaren's now offers a full selection of hand-made Jams, Curds, scone mixes, cookies, gift baskets and corporate gifts. The whole family is involved, including their three children, whose favorite job is testing new products!
McLaren's has supported a number of local organizations with product donations including; The "Light The Night" event for the American Cancer Society, Circle of Hope's annual Tea and additional Breast Cancer Fundraisers.
