COC Board Makes Big Changes
There was a celebratory tone to the College of the Canyons Board of Trustees meeting Wednesday night; along with welcoming new and returning board members, several government representatives were there to thank retiring trustee Ernie Tichenor for his 12 years of service. Tichenor is starting a new career in Washington D.C.
The 2010 board now includes Mike Berger, who challenged attorney Brian Koegle and won election in November. Former board president Joan MacGregor was re-elected in November, winning a victory over her opponents, Randy Moberg, Robyn Bryce and John Dortsch.
During the meeting, the board selected its new officers for 2010. Scott Wilk will serve as President, with Michele Jenkins serving as vice president. Berger will be clerk of the board and MacGregor and Bruce Fortine will serve as members at large. Nicolas Cardenas will continue to serve as the board's student member.
In addition, the board voted to change the time of board meetings for 2010, moving the starting times by 1/2 hour earlier, in order to make it more convenient for members of the campus community to attend, while keeping it convenient for members of the community to attend. During 2010, the meetings will begin at 4:30 p.m., moving to closed session. The open sessions will begin at 6 p.m.
