Skeletal Remains From Riverbed Identified
Coroner's officials have identified the remains found two weeks ago in the Santa Clarita River.
Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter said that the remains are those of 48-year-old Robert March Fields. The remains, which were mostly skeletal, were found October 15 in a brushy area of the riverbed near the South Fork Trail.
A hiker looking for his lost pet came upon Fields' body and homicide investigators were called to the scene.
Winter added that the cause of death was deferred, pending further testing.
