Soledad Canyon Road Gets A Face Lift
Construction is expected to last a month but won't cost the city a penny.
The drive for Canyon Country residents will be a little smoother starting in October because of the city's Roadway Asphalt Rehabilitation Project.
The project will repair the road along Soledad Canyon Road between Sierra Highway and Sand Canyon Road.
Construction is expected to begin October 5, and last through November.
"The Roadway and Asphalt Rehabilitation Project will provide for a smoother ride for traffic and extend the life of one of Santa Clarita's most frequently traveled local roadways," said Mayor Frank Ferry. "Thanks to funds received through the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act of 2009, these improvements can be made to our local roadways at no cost to the City."
In an effort to minimize noise and traffic delays to residents, construction will be done on weekdays during daylight hours.
Construction time will be limited to avoid peak travel periods in each direction of the roadway.
The city recommends drivers use alternate routes and expect delays.
Bike lanes through the area will be closed for construction but sidewalks will remain open.
