Fourth Quarter Interception Secures COC Football Team's Win Over Fullerton
The College of the Canyons football team got a lot of help on the defensive side of the ball in a 26-13 win over Fullerton College on Saturday.
Arron Fisher returned an interception for a touchdown as time expired in the fourth quarter of COC's win against the fifth-ranked team in the state. D.J. Stephens caught two touchdown passes and James Rodriguez kicked two field goals for COC.
The Santa Clarita Christian football team didn't fare so well in its game against Maranatha Christian in San Diego. Playing without star running back Colin Keoshian, Santa Clarita Christian lost, 50-38, committing four turnovers in the loss.
The Valencia High football team stayed undefeated with a 35-14 win over Palmdale on Friday night. Quarterback Alex Bishop threw four touchdowns and Brock Vereen had two interceptions for Valencia, the third-ranked team in the CIF Southern Section Northern Division poll.
The West Ranch football team won its third game in a row. West Ranch beat Beverly Hills, 33-17, behind two rushing touchdowns by running back Trevin Manuel.
In other high school football games, Hart lost to Westlake, 48-21, Newbury Park beat Saugus, 41-21, Canyon lost to Thousand Oaks, 49-28 and Golden Valley was shut out by Camarillo, 68-0.
