COC Women's Volleyball Team Wins Consolation Championship Of San Diego Mesa Tournamenmt
The College of the Canyons women's volleyball team won the consolation bracket of the San Diego Mesa tournament over the weekend. COC lost its first match of the tournament to Long Beach City College, then won three matches in a row to take the consolation championship.
COC swept San Bernardino Valley College, then beat Victor Valley in four games and Bakersfield in four games. Next up for the COC women is Allan Hancock College tonight at College of the Canyons. Game time is at 6.
The Saugus football team, after a 42-20 loss to Westlake last week, dropped from fourth to eighth in the CIF Southern Section Northern Division poll.
Valencia, a 56-31 winner over Birmingham, maintained its No. 3 spot in the poll.
Hart, winners of two straight games after an opening night stunning loss to El Camino Real, moves up to 10th.
Santa Clarita Christian, the top-ranked team in the CIF Southern Section Division I 8-man poll last week, dropped to fourth after a 22-6 loss to Joshua Springs.

The Quartz Hill girls golf team won a tightly contested tri-meet over West Ranch and Saugus at Rancho Vista golf course. Quartz Hill shot 246 as a team and beat West Ranch by five strokes. Saugus was third, seven shots behind Quartz Hill.
Jennifer Dilger shot a tri-meet best 3-under 33 for Quartz Hill. Diane Kim shot a team-best 44 for West Ranch. Catherine Walgamuth shot a 45 to pace Saugus.
