Oak Ridge Railroad Crossing To Close For Maintenance

The City of Santa Clarita is informing residents that Oak Ridge Drive will be closed at the Metrolink Railroad crossing from 8 p.m. on Sunday, September 20 to 2 p.m. on Monday, September 21 for railroad grade crossing improvement work. The construction is part of ongoing maintenance scheduled for the Metrolink Railroad and is not expected to affect travel on their line.

The crossing improvements will include the replacement of existing railroad track, ties, subgrade and ballast, as well as the installation of new concrete crossing panels on the adjacent roadway.

"The Oak Ridge Drive railroad crossing improvements are necessary to rehabilitate the existing track and make it safer for Metrolink travel," said Mayor Frank Ferry. "The construction work will provide for a smoother, more stable ride and extend the life of the railroad crossing and adjacent roadway for years to come."

Signs will be posted near the Oak Ridge Drive crossing within the next few weeks to give advanced notification of the road closure to commuters and pedestrians. Construction will be completed by Herzog Contracting, a contractor for the Metrolink Railroad.

For more information on the Oak Ridge Drive railroad crossing repairs, please contact Gus Pivetti, Senior Traffic Engineer for the City's Traffic and Transportation Planning Division at (661) 286-4047 or visit santa-clarita.com.
