Sexual Assault Suspect Sought

Public Assistance Needed khts_crime

Detectives from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff Station's Robbery and Assault Team are investigating an incident of sexual assault that occurred on Thursday night, August 20 in the Castaic area, Unincorporated Los Angeles County.

The man depicted here and in the attached video file is being sought for questioning only at this time and detectives are hopeful someone in the public can identify him. The night of the incident, the suspect reportedly asked the victim, female age 30, for a ride while she was standing by her car near a Castaic market in the 31500 block of Castaic Road. She agreed to provide the man with a ride if he bought her a bottle of alcohol. The suspect bought the alcohol and drove the victim's vehicle to a remote dirt road in the Castaic area where she was assaulted and raped.

The suspect has been described by some witnesses as a "transient type," but clean. Detectives believe the man may live locally, as he had knowledge of the Castaic area. They also believe he may be connected to the trucking industry in some capacity, possibly even a truck driver. The investigation is ongoing.
