Station Fire Deemed Arson
The massive Station Fire, responsible for several injuries and two firefighter deaths, has now become a homicide investigation.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's homicide detectives opened the investigation after it was ruled that the fire was started by arson.
As of Friday morning the fire had gobbled up 148,000 acres over the course of eight days. Seven residents were injured by fire activity and two firefighters were killed Sunday night when their vehicle went off a steep cliff while on duty in the Mt. Gleason area south of Acton.
Since Tuesday the fire has slowed significantly, and most Acton and Little Tujunga evacuations have been lifted.
