Gas Conservation

Looking to Lower Your Gas Bill?
Try using these small tips and watch as your gas bill starts to fall
Brought to you by the Southern California Gas Company

1.    Heating and Cooling
•    Clean and replace filters on your heater and air conditioner regularly. A cleaner filter will ensure your heater and air conditioner will run much more efficiently and save you money.
•    Have your furnace/boiler tuned once a year to improve efficiency. In the long run, the results will pay dividends and put cash back into your pocket.
•    Insulate your home and use caulk/weather strips around doors and windows. It will keep the weather outside from coming inside, keeping your house cool in the hot weather and warm in cold weather.
•    Take short and cool showers. Over time, those brief and cool showers will help cut expenses on your gas and water bill.
•    Set the thermostat on your water heater no higher than the manufacturer’s suggested level

2.    Appliances
•    Make sure all or most of your appliances are ENERGY STAR® approved. They can help cut your energy and gas costs up to 40% or more.
•    Make sure all of your cooking appliances (oven, range, toasters, etc) are clean. Keeping your cooking appliances clean ensures they’ll run at their highest efficiency, wasting little gas and energy and saving you cash.
•    While cooking, make sure you keep your oven and grill closed as much as possible in order to keep the heat in and insure a shorter cooking time.
•    Defrost your food before cooking. Letting food thaw rather than throwing it on the grill cold saves gas and energy that would’ve been used to thaw your meal
