Keller Gets Start For West Ranch In Valley Invitational Baseball League Playoffs

west_ranch-13-smallRyan Keller will get the start for West Ranch in the semifinals of the Valley Invitational Baseball League playoffs today. Keller is 2-0 in the summer baseball league. He has struck 16 batters in 17 2/3 innings. That’s the good news. He also has a 5.15 ERA.

Thanks goodness J.C. Cloney and Jared Ortiz have been hot at the plate since the playoffs started.

Keller will be a junior at West Ranch in the fall. Last season, he was an impressive 4-1 as a sophomore during the high school baseball season.

West Ranch will host Crespi, 4-2 winners over Valencia in the quarterfinals. Game time is at 5.

In the other semifinal game, Newbury Park is at Agoura.

In high school soccer, Natalie Helgesson was introduced as the new Saugus High School girls soccer coach on Tuesday night, according to the Daily News. Saugus won its first CIF-Southern Section championship in girls soccer under the helm of coach Lisa Rollo, who resigned at the end of last season.

Helgesson coached the 15-and-under soccer team for the Santa Clarita Magic and played for Ventura High School and the University of Pacific. She was the Big West Conference Player of the Year in 1998.
