4th Of July Traffic Patterns Will Change
Parade to prompt morning and afternoon detours, delays.
If you plan on traveling around Santa Clarita on the morning of July 4th, you may want to consider that the annual parade will have some streets closed.
Starting at 7:00 a.m., Main Street will close completely to traffic, along with Lyons Avenue from Main Street to Orchard Village Road, and Orchard Village Road to 16th Street.
The closures will allow for the annual 5K run, followed by the 4th of July Parade at 9:00 a.m. The parade start time is one hour earlier than previous years.
Also impacted by the 4th of July celebration will be bus routes through the Newhall area. Stops directly in the parade area will not be served between 6:00 a.m. and about 12:00 p.m. All other routes will be detoured and therefore riders should expect delays. Transit users can get more details on bus route delays at www.santaclaritatransit.com, or by calling the transit hotline at 661-294-1-BUS.
For a detour around town during the parade, use McBean Parkway, the western portion of Orchard Village Road and Wiley Canyon Road to access Lyons Avenue. On the eastern side of town, Use Bouquet Canyon Road and Railroad Avenue to get around.
The roads should be re-opened and flowing normally by about 1:00 p.m.
