Experiencing Summer In A Whole New Light

Placerita broadcast journalism and robotics camps now open to all Santa Clarita students

Beginning this summer, Placerita Junior High School is inviting students throughout the community to attend their broadcast journalism and robotics camps.

"It's a great opportunity for students to do something fun during the summer, while also learning important skills they can use later in life," stated camp Executive Director Paul Kass, "We always have kids come in who find out that they have a real passion for something they might not have even considered before."

Open to 7th and 8th grade students, KidFlix Camp provides opportunities for children to learn about the video production industry as well as film and television careers.  Campers will obtain hands-on experience with video cameras, audio and video mixers, and non-linear editors.

Presenting an opportunity for 5th through 8th graders to learn about robotics, LEGO Robotics Camp challenges students to invent machines that solve problems.  At this camp, children will learn to design, program, and build robots.

placeritasummercamp_2Both KidFlix and LEGO Robotics Camps offer programs for beginning and advanced learners.  Beginner camps cost $100 per camper and start on July 13.  Advanced camps cost $150 per camper and start on July 20.

As part of the advanced camps, students will travel to LegoLand where the LEGO Robotics campers will receive lessons from LEGO Master Builders on robot building techniques while KidFlix campers will create video documentaries about the park.
