West Side Residents Weighing Their Future Tonight
Residents on the west side of the Santa Clarita Valley, specifically on the west side of the I-5 freeway, will talk about their future governance tonight.
Three options lay ahead for Stevenson Ranch, Castaic and Westridge; incorporate into the City of Santa Clarita, form their own city, or stay as an unincorporated portion of Los Angeles County.
Important financial information regarding each scenario is expected to be detailed at two community meetings. The first will take place at Stevenson Ranch Elementary School tonight from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The second will be held Thursday night from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Castaic Middle School.
The information stems from two separate studies. Los Angeles County bankrolled the first study, which aims to present a complete picture of the benefits and costs of forming a separate city, versus staying unincorporated.
The city of Santa Clarita also forked over some cash to conduct a separate study on the benefits and costs associated with annexing into the City.
The community residents from the areas will get to hear all their options at the two meetings.
KHTS will cover both meetings, with detailed reports available at hometownstation.com shortly after the meetings are concluded.
