Nostalgia In The Park
The Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society is presenting John Ford’s 1939 epic Western “Stagecoach” on Saturday, June 13, at dusk, as part of the “Flickers at the Junction” film series.
The film will be shown outdoors, weather permitting, at the historic Saugus Train Station in Heritage Junction, Newhall.
Participants are encouraged to bring $5 donations, as well as lawn chairs and blankets.
The Historical Society will be honoring Stagecoach’s 70th anniversary as well as the 30th anniversary of the passing of John Wayne.
Wayne, born Marion Morrison, had a decade’s worth of films under his belt before Stagecoach made him a star – which he remained until his death on June 11, 1979.
Part of the movie was filmed locally at Newhall’s Beale’s Cut.
The Saugus Train Station is located at Heritage Junction (inside William S. Hart Park), at 24107 Newhall Avenue (formerly San Fernando Road), Newhall. Gates open at 7:00 PM and the film begins at dusk (around 8:00 PM)..
