Smoke Shop Has License Permanently Revoked

Officials went through the motions Thursday morning and posted a revocation notice on the window of the former Smoke N Cerveza shop in The Oaks shopping center on Lyons Avenue, although the tenants had removed the store’s contents long before their arrival.

The revocation came after an investigation by state Alcohol Beverage Control that substantiated evidence of an illegal slot machine, possession and sales of illegal narcotics and consumption of alcoholic beverages on the premises.

All of the violations occurred during August 2008, which also resulted in the arrest of the owner, PacificoYamat Sunga of Canyon Country for possession of methamphetamine and employee Gerardo Tamayo of Saugus for sale of illegal narcotics. Read the original story here .

At the time of the arrests, evidence seized included the video slot machine, which contained $1,784.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Lt. Steve Low helped an ABC officer post the notice, acknowledging the teamwork required to close down businesses who are violating the law.

“This is an excellent example of collaborative effort on the part of the sheriff’s deputies working the ABC,” he said.

ABC Investigator Enrique Alcala said that technically, the business could have stayed open until the revocation became effective
Thursday, but said he was told by neighboring merchants that the store was vacated several months before.
