--Take advantage of the beautiful spring sunshine, and spend the day outside at the Assistance League of Santa Clarita “Footsteps” 5K Run/Walk and 1K Kids Fun Run. Held Sunday at Newhall Park, registration begins at 6:30 a.m. with the 1K Kids Fun Run beginning at 8:00 a.m.
This event will benefit the Operation School Bell program in the SCV, which helps provide new shoes, clothing and school supplies for children in need. So dust off those running shoes, pack up the entire family, and enjoy a walk while helping a child in need!
--Are you a fan of the popular ABC television show, “Dancing with the Stars?” Well now you can experience it right here in our valley, with our very own stars! This Saturday, the long-awaited “2009 Dancing with Our Stars” will be held at the Hyatt Valencia. This exciting ballroom dance competition features “stars” of the SCV each dancing for a specific non-profit organization. AM 1220 KHTS’s very own Janice Murray from the Non-Profit spotlight show will be “swingin” her way around the dance floor, so be sure to support this fundraiser by voting for Janice!
--Browse through a variety of great books at the “Friends of the Libraries Book Sale” Friday and Saturday at the Canyon Country Library. Members may attend from 5-7 p.m. Friday, and the sale will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
--Do you love fashion? If you’re environmentally conscious and into the latest trends, this event is for you! Rituals Colour Salon presents “Project Earth Green Carpet Event,” a new kind of fashion show, featuring ecologically friendly materials. Held Sunday at 3:00 p.m., view the newest cutting edge fashion designs that help protect the world’s oceans, waves and beaches by using environmentally friendly material. It only takes baby steps to make Santa Clarita a cleaner, greener valley, so head to this unique fashion show, and enjoy couture with a cause.
--Take a trip to Hawaii without ever leaving Santa Clarita! The SCV Rotary Club will be holding the “1st Annual Rotary Luau” Saturday, at 6 p.m. This evening of dining, fine music and special entertainment will be a fundraiser for the Rotary Club, which supports numerous non-profits throughout the Santa Clarita Valley.
