Youth Grove Ceremony Serves As Reminder
A ceremony honoring local youth who lost their lives in traffic-related collisions will be held tonight at 7:10 p.m. in the Youth Grove at Central Park.
Mayor Frank Ferry, the city and the Blue Ribbon Task Force invite the community to attend the ceremony, which will include readings and performances by Mayor Ferry and local youth.
The half-acre Youth Grove features individual pillars that mimic cut tree stumps, each representing a young life cut short on the road. The pillars surround a central monument featuring the “Know More, No More” vow urging the community to know more about safe driving habits and to pledge that no more young lives will be lost from drinking and driving or from reckless and irresponsible choices.
The Evening of Remembrance commemorates those lost and serves as a graphic reminder to local teens about the dangers of reckless driving.
The event is free and everyone is invited to attend.
