The court clerk announced the verdict of guilty of second degree murder in the downtown Los Angeles Superior Courtroom. The jury of six men and six women began deliberating on March 26 and announced it had come to a verdict today. The verdict was announced by a court clerk at approximately 2:15 p.m.
The 69-year old Grammy-award winning producer, who was inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame in 1989, was tried for a second time after a jury deadlocked 10-2 in favor of conviction in 2007.
In that trial, Spector’s attorneys portrayed the 40-year old Clarkson as suicidal and argued that she grabbed a gun from Spector and killed herself.
Spector was remanded to custody and will return to court for sentencing May 29.
