Calling On Local Art Submissions For Congressional Art Competition

Rep. Howard P. “Buck” McKeon (R-Santa Clarita) is encouraging all high school students who live in the 25th Congressional District of California to submit a piece of artwork for the 2009 Congressional Art Competition.

The theme for this year’s competition is “Patriotic” and the deadline for submission is May 6, 2009.   Just as past years, the winning pieces of art from each Congressional District will be on display for a year in the Cannon House Office Building tunnel of the United States Capitol.

“I’ve been outright amazed by the remarkable artwork I have seen from local students over the years for this competition, and I always enjoy seeing the pieces hang on the tunnel wall as I walk to the Capitol,” said McKeon.  I’m looking forward to seeing what we receive this year, so please don’t be shy and submit some of your art.”
