“Forever Young” – A Benefit for the Family of Sarah Alarid
When:  Saturday, January 19 at 5pm
Where:  15408 Sierra Highway, Santa Clarita 91390
Details:  A benefit concert is being held by the friends of Sarah Alarid featuring local bands that Sarah had followed.  Read a story by KHTS’ own David Perez: “Sarah Alarid’s Forever Young Benefit Show”.  Show your support by coming to the show.  T-Shirts and other merchandise will be sold.  Bands: Varsity Blues, Good Source of Fiber, CABS, No Control, Gutter Poets, Las Cochinas, The Dips, and Lumberjacks.  Admission donation: $5.  Absolutely no drugs will be tolerated.  Read the original KHTS story on Sarah Alarid.

Castaic Urgent Care “Grand Opening”
When:  Saturday, January 19 from 12:00 noon to 3pm
Where:  Castaic Urgent Care, 31905 Castaic Road, Castaic
Details:  Come to the “Grand Opening” of Castaic Urgent Care.  KHTS’s own Kyle “Jellyman” Jellings will be there with prizes.  The kids will enjoy the petting zoo.  Castaic Urgent Care is going all at with live entertainment, a basketball court, clowns, games and barbeque.

Child & Family Center “Coping With Tragedy”
When:  Thursday, January 17, 2013 from 6:30pm to 8:00pm
Where:  Child & Family Center, 21545 Centre Pointe Parkway
Details:  “Coping with Tragedy” is a special panel presentation hosted by Child & Family Center.  The seminar will help provide tools to deal with traumatic events (example: Connecticut elementary school shooting).  This presentation is free and the first of many community seminars planned for 2012.  The panel is composed of experienced Child & Family Center staff members who have dealt with trauma and have helped kids who suffer from mental health issues.

SCPAC “An Intimate Evening With Clint Black”

Where:  Santa Clarita Performing ArtsCenter, 26455 Rockwell Canyon, Valencia
Details:   The Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center brings us the Chancellor’s Choice “An Intimate Evening With Clint Black”.  Award-winning singer-songwriter Clint Black is one of Country Music’s biggest stars and he will be performing right here in Santa Clarita.  Tickets are selling fast call for availability at 661-362-5304 or on-line.  

Fast Frame Valencia Artist Reception & Demonstration
When:  Saturday, January 19 from 12-4pm
Where:  Fast Frame Valencia, 24204 Valencia Boulevard (in the Kohl’s/Whole Foods center), Valencia
Details:  Olga Kaczmar is the featured artist at Fast Frame for the month of January. An artist’s reception with refreshments will be from 12-4 pm for the public to view the art gallery inside the store.  Olga will hold a public demonstration of watercolor painting at Fast Frame on Saturday, January 19.  For more information call Fast Frame Valencia at 661-291-1325. 

Lancaster Performing Arts Center “Nunset Blvd”
When:  Sunday, January 20, 2013 at 3pm
Where:  Lancaster Performing ArtsCenter, 750 W. Lancaster, Lancaster
Details:  Lancaster Performing Arts Center has “Nunset Blvd” featuring the TV icon Cindy Williams as Mother Superior.  The Little Sisters of Hoboken have gone Hollywood.  The Sisters are thrilled to be performing at the Hollywood Bowl until they discover that they will be performing at the Hollywood Bowl-A-Rama.  This performance falls right in line with the high comedy of “Nunsense”.  Tickets are available by calling 661-723-5950 or on-line

SCV Chamber of Commerce Installation & Recognition Banquet
When:  Friday, January 18, 2013, registration begins at 6pm
Where:  Hyatt Regency Valencia, 24500 Town Center Drive (at McBean Parkway), Valencia
Details: The SCV Chamber of Commerce is holding their 89th Annual Installation & Recognition Banquet.  Fred Arnold, owner of American Family Funding and host of KHTS’ SCV Business Chamber Spotlight Show will be installed as the incoming 2013 Chairman.  The 2012 Small, Medium & Large businesses of the year will be recognized.  The evening will have dinner, dancing, entertainment and a Casino with Texas Hold’Em Poker.  Register and purchase tickets online

City of Santa Clarita Art Reception & Art Program
When:  Saturday, January 19 from 10am to 1pm
Where:  Westfield Valencia Town Center, 2nd floor, just off the Patios on the Sears side of the mall
Details:  Joint the City of Santa Clarita’s City Council, Arts Commission, and Arts and Events Office for a reception celebrating the newest art exhibits – The Left Brain: Art from Bowman High and Art Making for Change: NOMAD LAB.  Founded in 2010 NOMAD LAB is a laboratory of creativity, collaboration and community for youth and families.  NOMAD LAB designs and implements free inclusive arts, capacity building and leadership programs to address the rise in criminal activity in the neighborhood, and to offer a safe forum for dialogue, learning and community engagement.  These two exhibitions are now on display.  Come meet the artists, engage with others who appreciate art, and enjoy light appetizers.  There will also be an Art Program where participants of all ages (no previous experience needed) can make a collaborative off-the-wall street art piece with the young artists from the NOMAD LAB Art Project.  Learn about different ways to use your creativity and the art of graffiti to create something beautiful and unique, and, best of all, without getting in trouble.
