SCV Your Home Inside And Out

Indicators It Is Time To Update Your Kitchen

800px-Modular_KitchenSometimes it isn’t enough to resurface or repaint your kitchen cabinets and you just have to replace them. Below are some signs that your kitchen may need to updated:

    1. Your cabinets are beginning to fall apart or aren't well built to begin with.

    2. You have metal cabinets that are beginning to rust.

    3. Or you have larger structural issues, like floors that have settled and left your cabinets out of alignment.

    By Juliana Menchaca:

Replacing your windows is an excellent way to update your home's style. If you are a home owner, you know the stress of always creating the look that you intend to keep. Furniture, color coordination and  textures all play a large role in this. Most importantly, though,  are lighting and windows.

It Is All In The Details

800px-Royal_Museum_for_Central_Africa_Hall_Floor_Mosaics_Detail_2If you are looking to give a unique look to your kitchen or bath, you may want to look into installing a mosaic.

Mosaic is the art of creating a picture or design through using smaller glass, stone or ceramic tiles. Usually the tiles will be cubic in nature and are frequently arranged in a multicolor design.

    Gardening In Shade

If your lawn or yard is not-so-sunny then choosing plants and trees that do well in shade is extremely important.

You can still have color in shade, bright pink and red impatiens love the shade and add a nice contrast to mostly green plants.

Hostas are another great plant to place in a shaded area as well as dianthus, white alssum and viola. You can have plenty of flowers in shade!

    Grow Your Vertical Succulent Garden

If you are concerned with keeping a garden during the summer, an easy to care for plant is the succulent. Cacti kind of have a bad wrap with their thorns and rough looking exterior, when in fact, cacti and other succulents have lived in Santa Clarita long before we have.

    Increase Your Workspace

You may want to increase your workspace in the kitchen. If you have enough space in the center of your kitchen, you may want to consider installing an island. 361px-Bakinggirl

Secondary work zones create areas for the specialized activities that take place in today’s multi-functional kitchen.

Lower than standard counter heights create a baking center, perfect for kneading bread or rolling out cookies. Spend time with your little ones, baking their favorite treats.

Affordable Finishing Touches For Your Room

TSI_headshotI see many rooms that are furnished beautifully, yet are lacking the finishing touches to pull it all together.  My clients look to me to make that completed feeling for the room.

In today's article, I will show you how to add the finishing touches to your space without breaking the bank.

    Create Your Garden Getaway

You can create your garden getaway with a few simple items and plants.path

You will want to find a secluded spot in your yard maybe toward the back or near a corner. Using shrubbery, you can create your own secret garden by growing living walls.

You can create your living wall using a variety of Azaleas, Blackhaw Viburnum, or Rose of Sharon. These shrubs—if allowed to grow can easily create a dense wall for your garden.

Taking Big Steps In Small Spaces

Moving_Pic_2Preparing to embark on your big college move, wherever that may be, can be quite stressful. There are new friends to meet, career decisions to make and a new campus to navigate. For many, one of the greatest challenges is figuring out how to cram an entire wardrobe into a small dorm room.

To Mulch Or Not To Mulch

Using mulch in your garden can help the soil stay moist longer, deter weeds, and give your landscape a more finished look. Mulch

Now you ask, why should someone mulch?

Mulch’s purpose is fairly basic, it keeps sunlight and air away from the soil’s surface as well as protecting from insects and other bugs that may creep onto your plants.
