    If you spend any time in a Biology class, you can't help but pick up a few Greek words, which sometimes can be useful outside the classroom.  Suppose, for example, you get into a discussion about your favorite comic Superhero.

    Children get so excited when they see a Western Fence Lizards. These lizards are easy to spot and can often be found sitting on rocks (or fence posts) while they look for insects to eat. 

     

     

    But sitting out in the open comes with a price - lizards are easily spotted by predators such as snakes, hawks and meat-eating mammals.

    Heading south on the 5, I see them out of the corner of my eye: a flash of blue blur.

    But not all lupines are blue. There are 82 different species of lupine in California, and some are pink and lavender, with a touch of white and sometimes yellow thrown in for good measure.
