    SCV Outdoor Report: A Rose By Any Other Name

    A vivid flash of pink caught my eye as we drove past.  But almost as quickly as I asked, “Could you please pull over”, my husband was looking for a safe spot to stop.  We were driving along San Francisquito Canyon Road, enjoying a lovely spring morning.  I had brought my camera along, just in case we spotted any wildflowers.

    January is a good month to be endothermic.  Tuesday, the temperatures in the Santa Clarita valley reached a sunny 79 degrees.    But two weeks earlier, we were blanketed in snow.  So any creature that can regulate and maintain it’s own body temperature, regardless of the weather, has a built-in advantage in our unpredictable valley.

    People love to sing and listen to each other sing.  It’s part of what makes us human.  And perhaps, that’s one reason why so many of us enjoy watching birds - we get to listen to them sing.
