Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Crime Reports 12/24 to 12/30

Below are reports from the different Sheriff zone’s throughout the Santa Clarita Valley.

The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station divides its coverage into eight zones, seven of which are in the Santa Clarita Valley, listed in alphabetical order. (Gorman is the eighth).

Below is a summary of incidents that took place in the last week in the SCV:

Here’s a summary of Canyon Country – East incidents:
14 Part-1 crimes were reported in Zone 8 last week: 

Assault: 
18000 Block of Erik Court – Cohabitants got into a physical altercation. Deputies were unable to determine who the primary aggressor was so both parties were listed as Suspect/Victim and taken into custody without incident.

Arson:
18356 Block of Soledad Canyon Road – Informant saw a dumpster/trash can on fire behind a retail store. No damage to any buildings occurred.

Burglary:
27000 Block of Dove House Street – Suspect attempted to kick open the front door of the victim’s residence. The suspect was scared off when the victim started to scream. No suspect information is available.

18058 Block of Anne’s Circle – Suspect kicked open the front door of the victim’s residence but left prior to taking anything as the victim scarred the suspect off. No suspect information is available.

27000 Block of Palo Verde Place – Suspect stole victim’s laptop computer from her locked garage. It is unknown how the suspect gained access.
18000 Block of Anne’s Circle – Suspect stole an amplifier and money order from the interior of his vehicle which was parked in his garage. It is unknown how the suspect gained access.

Larceny:
15000 Block of Rose Haven Lane – Suspect smashed the window of the victim’s vehicle and stole his golf clubs.
26000 Block of Flo Lane – Suspect syphoned approx. 15 gallons of gas from his work truck.
18000 Block of Anne’s Circle – Suspect stole the victim’s purse from her UNLOCKED vehicle as she walked her children into her home.
16000 Block of Nearview Drive – Suspect stole the victim’s tool box from the open bed of his pick-up truck buy cutting the lock/cable that was securing it to the vehicle.
19000 Block of Golden Valley Road – Target – Victim had her cell phone and wallet taken out of her purse which was in the break room while she was working.

Grand Theft Auto:
Sandy Drive X Jakes Way – Suspect stole the victim’s 1993 Nissan pick-up truck. The vehicle was recovered undamaged in the San Fernando Valley.
27000 Block of Fahren Court – Suspect stole the victim’s 1996 GMC Sierra pick-up truck from the front of the victim’s residence.
29000 Block of Grandiflores – Suspect attempted to steal the victim’s 2006 Dodge Ram 250 by punching the ignition.

Here’s a summary of Canyon Country – West incidents:
This past week in Zone 7, the following Part-1 crimes occurred:

(1) Residential Burglary, (1) Vehicle Burglary, (3) Grand Thefts, (1) Petty Theft and (1) GTA.

On Monday 12-24-12, a residential burglary occurred near the 19700 block of Skyview Ct. The victims arrived home and saw two suspects jump out of the master bedroom and run away from the location. The suspect’s took several pieces of jewelry from the victim’s safe. The jewelry was recovered at the scene.

A vehicle burglary occurred near the 19900 block of Soledad Canyon Rd. An unknown suspect used the vehicle’s antenna to unlock the passenger door and gain entry into the vehicle. The suspect took a laptop computer and an MP3 player.

There were three grand thefts in the Vazquez Canyon area of Saugus. An unknown suspect took items from a flatbed truck near the 18200 block of Lost Creek Rd. Items were also taken from outside a garage located near 18910 Galton Rd.

A white 1995 Honda Civic was taken near the 27400 block of Walnut Springs Rd.

Here’s a summary of Castaic and Val Verde incidents:
There were four Part-1 crimes in Castaic/Val Verde this period. A reported stolen vehicle from Oxnard was abandoned and set on fire on Highway 126 at Wolcott Way.

There were two thefts from vehicles in Castaic. A handgun and police I.D. were stolen from a car on Desert Rose Drive. An Apple iPad, Disney clothing, ornaments and U.S. currency were stolen from two unlocked vehicles parked on Crawford Place.

A single can of beer was stolen from the Fast Stop on san Martinez Road in Val Verde.

Here’s a summary of Newhall incidents:
During the past week, Newhall (Zone 6) had six reported part one crimes. Newhall saw one reported vehicle burglary, two grand thefts, one incident of shoplifting, one residential burglary, and one petty theft.

A petty theft was reported from a supermarket located on the 24100 block of Lyons Avenue. The report states a white female, approximately 55 years old, entered the location and purchased some items. The female exited the supermarket riding one of the store’s electric wheelchair shopping carts. The female was last seen riding on Wiley Canyon Road in a southern direction away from the store. (ref -18415).

A vehicle burglary was reported from the 23900 block of Calgrove Blvd, in Newhall. On 12/26/12 during the AM hours, the victim reported an unknown suspect entered his locked vehicle that was parked in the parking lot of a local fitness facility. Credit cards and US currency were stolen from inside the vehicle (ref -18210).

Deputies assigned to work the Newhall area (Zone 6) continue to be proactive, even though the holiday season. Numerous arrests were made during the past week including the capturing of suspects who had outstanding arrest warrants and two D.U.I. arrests.


Here’s a summary of Saugus incidents:
This week we stayed around the yearly average of Part-1 crimes. There was a string of thefts from unlocked vehicles over the past week. The first occurred in the 24200 block of Reyes Adobe Way on Monday, 12/24/2012, between 12:40 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. Suspect(s) stole the victim’s wallet from inside the vehicle and later used her credit card at several locations in the valley. Detectives are actively working the case.

There was a second theft from an unlocked vehicle in the 21900 block of Rodeffer Place late Wednesday night, 12/26/2012, into Thursday morning, 12/27/2012. Suspect(s) stole the victim’s wallet from his center console of the vehicle. There were also unauthorized charges made on the victim’s credit cards.

There was a third theft from an unlocked vehicle in the 22600 block of Cardiff Drive between Saturday, 12/29/2012, at 3:00 p.m. and Sunday, 12/30/2012, at 9:30 a.m. The victim had miscellaneous personal items taken from her vehicle.

Help avoid falling victim to this type of crime. Please remove any items of value from your vehicle when leaving it unattended. If you are forced to leave any items in the vehicle please place them out of sight or secure them in the trunk. Thefts from unlocked vehicles are a crime of opportunity. Most of these criminals are looking for a quick, easy way to get inside your vehicle. Don’t make it easy for them by leaving your door unlocked or windows down.

There was another vehicle burglary at a local gym located along the 26400 block of Golden Valley Road on Monday, 12/24/2012, between 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 p.m. Suspect(s) unknown punched the key lock and made entry into the vehicle. They then stole personal property from the center console. Detectives are looking for possible leads on the incident.

There were multiple arrests made over the holiday week. The majority of the arrests were for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Thanks to the hard work of the deputies in your area they helped take dangerous drivers off the roads to keep you and your family safe.


Here’s a summary of Stevenson Ranch and Westridgeincidents:
This week Stevenson Ranch had 11 reported Part-1 crimes. There were 2 commercial burglaries, 1 petty theft, 5 vehicle burglaries, 2 incidents of shoplifting and 1 vehicle theft.

A male and female were arrested at a business located in the 24000 block of Pico Canyon Road after they were attempting to pawn items that were stolen from an open garage earlier in the day.

An unknown male cashed several checks on a closed account at a bank located in the 24000 block of Pico Canyon Road.

Several packages were stolen from the doorstep of a home located in the 25000 block of Chase Avenue.

Vehicle burglaries occurred at the La Fitness, Wal-Mart, Toys R Us, Vons, and Game Day parking lots.

A male was arrested for shoplifting at Wal-Mart.

A female was seen stealing items from Ralph’s Grocery Store. When she was contacted by loss prevention she ran to her car and drove away. The investigation is ongoing.

Two additional narcotic arrests were made by proactive deputies.

Here’s a summary of Valencia incidents:
Zone 5-Valencia reported seventeen Part-1 Crimes during the past week. Overall, Zone 5 finished this year with a 2.88% drop in crime from last year. The criminal incidents from this past week include residential/vehicle burglary, and numerous petty theft/shoplifting from local businesses.

The residential burglary occurred on the 24700 block of Magic Mountain Parkway. The victim, while moving to another apartment, left two high end guitars unsecured in the garage. Within fifteen minutes, they were stolen. No suspects or witnesses were located at the time of the incident. A couple of hours later, two suspects (a male and female adult) were arrested in Stevenson Ranch in connection with the stolen guitars. The investigation is being handled by the Santa Clarita-Burglary/Theft Detectives.

There were three vehicle burglaries that occurred on the same day between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. The vehicles were parked in two different gym parking lots. Victims left their purses and wallets under the floor board or in the center console of the vehicles. Entry/exit was made by smashing a passenger rear window. Again, I cannot express enough to please not leave valuables unattended or visible in your vehicles. Secure items in locked trunks or take personal belongings with you when you exit your vehicle. Be cautious of your surroundings and if possible park your vehicles in well-lit and highly visible areas. If you see any suspicious activity, please call the Sheriff’s Station immediately at 661-255-1121.

There were twelve arrests made by proactive Santa Clarita Deputies assigned to the Valencia area last week. Some arrests included, warrants, domestic violence, possession of narcotics for sales, driving under the influence of alcohol, and shoplifting from local businesses.
