Deputy Parole, Probationer Checks Net No Arrests

A parolee and probationer check netted no arrests and found everyone contacted was in compliance, said Deputy Josh Dubin of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“We attempted to contact 24 different people at 24 different locations, and 10 were not home,” said Deputy Josh Dubin of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“We’ll attempt to contact them at a later time, and if, after an investigation, we discover that they reported the wrong address, we’ll attempt to get an arrest warrant issued for them.”

More than half of the parolees and probationers were out because of AB 109, a state law that paroles nonviolent, nonsexual, nonserious offenders, according to Dubin.

“We like to check on all of our probationers and parolees, and we do these operations throughout the year,” he said.

“We do a search of the home to make sure they’re not in possession of any firearms or narcotics and to make sure all of the terms that are set forth (by their parole or probation),” Dubin said.
