Myrna Condie has called Santa Clarita her home for the past 38 years and when it comes to volunteering, she immerses herself in community activities. Through her dedication and hard work, Myrna was honored with the title of Santa Clarita’s Woman of the Year. With new ideas and implementations, Condie was the founder of annual SCV Festival of Trees.
“My mother was in hospital over in Saint George, Utah and I happen to be there helping her as she was there. I have seen a lot of people talking about the festival trees and they kept saying different things about how excited they were for the coming festival of trees,” said Condie. “As I investigated into it more, it looked like something that we should have here in our valley. So I brought up the subject and a few friends supported me and we have the whole community coming in.”
Not only was Condie the founder of SCV Festival of Trees, but she was also the Co-Founder of the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley Foundation. She was also on the Chair of COC’s “Circle of Friends” Committee and a Member of COC Foundation Board of Directors.
HONORS
In 2010, she received the COC Silver Spur Award, 2009 California Mother of the Year, 2006 BSA Leaders of Character Award, 2004 SCV Boys & Girls Club Samuel Dixon Award and 2003 SCV Boys & Girls Club Foundation Board Member of the Year.
