    Chesebrough Park In Santa Clarita Undergoes A Transformation

    Due to the discontinuation of the play equipment previously at the Chesebrough Park, City of Santa Clarita officials recently unveiled a new and improved upgrade. Some new features include a new Hot Wheels track, Climbing Wall and new slide.

    Santa Clarita Releases Billboard Ballot Measure For November

    Santa Clarita officials released a copy of the ballot measure for a controversial deal with Metro and Allvision regarding billboard construction and removal in the Santa Clarita Valley. After months of public outreach by the city in support of the deal, and outcry from residents opposed to the deal, the question facing registered voters at the polls Nov. 4 will read: “Shall Ordinance 14-02 adopting a development agreement with (Metro) for the removal of 62 advertising structures, within the city, by Metro or any other means, and construction and operation of three digital billboards, adjacent to the Interstate 5 and State Route 14 freeways, and the dedication to the city of revenue received from digital billboards, which creates an ongoing revenue stream, be adopted?” Santa Clarita City Councilman Bob Kellar was appointed to draft the argument in favor of the measure, which will appear on the ballot.

    Santa Clarita Valley Sanitation District Discusses Sewer Rate Increase

    Santa Clarita Valley sewage officials formally introduced a rate hike Monday of $16 each year for the next six years in order to pay for a state-mandated chloride-compliance plan. “The goal has been to protect the Santa Clarita Valley ratepayer from substantial fines,” said Grace Chan, chief engineer for the Santa Clarita Valley Sanitation District. The move ended the state’s Proposition 218 hearing process necessary for a rate change, which is expected to be approved at a Santa Clarita Valley Sanitation District meeting next Monday at Santa Clarita City Hall.

    SCV Sanitation District Officials To Host City Hall Meeting Tonight

    Facing a fast-approaching deadline for chloride compliance, Santa Clarita Valley Sanitation District officials are hosting a public hearing Monday night at Santa Clarita City Hall. The 6 p.m meeting is a culmination of months of public outreach by officials seeking feedback on their plan to raise rates to pay for state-mandated chloride treatment. The SCV Sanitation District, which is responsible for the treatment of the local wastewater, proposed fee increases of approximately $17 per year over the next six years, said Dave Bruns, assistant head of financial management for the Sanitation Districts.
