    Lane Closures for I-5 Carpool Lane Construction 10/6-10/7

    Caltrans will close the following lanes of the Golden State Freeway (I-5), as part of a $41.6-million project to construct High Occupancy Vehicle, (HOV), or carpool lanes, on northbound and southbound I-5 from State Route 118 to State Route 14:
    ·     6 p.m. to 11 a.m. – Up to three lanes of southbound I-5 from State Route 14 to Balboa Boulevard

    For decades, Hall of Fame manager Tommy Lasorda has affectionately called Dodger Stadium "Blue Heaven on Earth."  tomorrow, in honor of the Dodgers' first home playoff game, Los Angeles fans are planning to make Lasorda's dream a reality. The Dodgers are encouraging all fans in attendance to show their Dodger pride by wearing Dodger blue to the team's Division Series home opener against the New York Mets.

    Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger plans to visit Mexico on a trade mission immediately following the November 7th election, and it has come to our attention that his office was approached by CEMEX to visit its corporate offices during this trip.     City Hosts Meeting regarding Henry Mayo TCU

    Community Leaders Discuss Alternatives to Closing Care Unit
    City of Santa Clarita Mayor Laurene Weste called a meeting that was held Friday afternoon, September 29th, to address the fate of the Transitional Care Unit at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital. Approximately 20 community leaders including representatives from Henry Mayo Hospital, the City of Santa Clarita, the Senior Center, business community and physicians were present at the meeting.

    Runner's Community College Bills Are Signed By Governor

    Legislation Will Provide Students More Access to Classes
    Community college legislation authored by Senator George Runner (R-Antelope Valley) was signed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger late last week.  The measures will greatly benefit community college students.
    "California's community colleges are vital to our educational system. These new laws support community colleges and provide opportunities for more students to access classes," said Runner. 

    Kings Officially Set Roster for 2006-08 NHL Season

    LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Kings have announced their 23-man player roster for the 2006-07 season.
    Center Alyn McCauley (off-season knee surgery) and defenseman Richard Petiot (knee sprain during the 2006 Rookie Tournament) have been placed on the injured reserve list to start the season.  McCauley is officially a non-roster player. The following is a look at the Kings' 23-man player roster:
