    Dodgers Lose 5-0

    On Friday night, the Dodgers offense was not able to do much of anything, managing to get only two hits, resulting in a 5-0 shutout for the Cardinals. You can catch game three of this four-game series, Saturday at 9:45am on KHTS.

    Red Flag Weather Warning Issued by National Weather Service

    The Los Angeles County Fire Department has received notification from the  National Weather Service that predicted weather conditions constitute a "Red Flag Warning". High temperatures and very low humidity can be expected for the mountains and valleys of Los Angeles County effective immediately through Saturday morning. The predicted weather combined with the extremely dry fuel, amount to a high fire danger in Los Angeles County. Consequently, citizens in brush areas should take appropriate precautions. These precautions include, but are not limited to, the following:

    Dodgers Lose 3-2

    Thursday night the Dodgers battled for 14 innings but lost when Albert Pujols of the Cardinals hit a game winning home run. The game ended with a score of 3-2. Tune in to KHTS Friday at 4:30 when the Dodgers will play game two of a four game series against the Cardinals.

    38 Inmates Injured In Another Pitchess Riot

    Fighting between inmates broke out again Thursday at the Pitchess Detention Center in Castaic, injuring 38 detainees. The fights began at approximately 3:50pm, and Santa Clarita Sheriff Deputies responded to emergency calls from Pitchess shortly after 4pm. The situation was brought under control quickly, and the detention center is currently under lockdown.

    Full Audit Requested For School Construction Costs

     The Hart School District Governing Board and Superintendent Jaime Castellanos will order a full forensic audit of the district’s modernization construction expenditures, Castellanos reported at the district’s board meeting Wednesday night.

     The investigation will be conducted by a professional audit firm with no previous connection to the district and will involve every penny spent and every decision made, Castellanos indicated. The results will be fully disclosed in a public session, as well as recommendations to avoid unreasonable cost overruns in the future.

    Agreement Final in Racism Suit

    Five Valencia High students will be awarded about $50,000 each for mental health services.

    A nearly $1 million agreement has been finalized in a lawsuit that accused the Hart district of ignoring five students' claims of racist threats & behavior directed at them.

    1,100 Customers Lose Power in Valencia

    Power outage was caused by an underground circuit failure

    At 4pm Wednesday afternoon, a power outage was reported in Valencia affecting about 1100 Southern California Edison customers. As of 5:45 pm, approximately 300 customers were still without power according to Tom Boyd of Southern California Edison. The outage was caused by an underground circuit failure and SCE crews are working to restore service to the area of Magic Mountain Parkway between McBean and Valencia.

    Hart District Lawsuit Resolved

    The lawsuit entitled Alabi, et al. v. William S. Hart Union High School District has been resolved.
    The plaintiffs stand by the allegations made in the lawsuit, and the District denies that it engaged in any wrongdoing or any violation of law. Nevertheless, in order to avoid the expense and time consumption entailed by protracted litigation, the parties have agreed that resolution at this time was in the best interest of the plaintiffs, students, parents and achievement of the educational goals of the District.
